"Most fun I've ever had racing."
It was a good weekend in terms of results and improvement in driving this past weekend at Road America. Dylan improved almost every lap out on track and beat his best time of last year by over 2 seconds (and that was with his slower backup engine). We were mostly able to talk about driving and make a few small changes to the setup, but there was an on-track incident that knocked his front bumper off after some heavy kart to kart impact. We also had to change an engine between Practice 2 and Heat 1 because the spark plug boot was fouled, but luckily the backup started right up and was competitive.
When racing against L206 engines the Comer is at a disadvantage unless the L206 drivers have a heavier weight limit, so the 3rd place in Heat 2 and the 4th in the feature behind only L206 drivers was a great result (and in front of a few L206 drivers). That is not to take anything away from the podium finishers as they all drove very smooth races and kept on the right line all of the time!
We will be out at Whiteland for practice on Friday after the Butler University / Lamar Jordan basketball camp ends Thursday. Hopefully we will have the primary engine back in the kart and figure out a way for the front bumper to appear straight regardless of the bent frame from the collision this weekend.
