Dylan has a successful Race #4 after missing Race #3 for Spring Break. He barely snuck into the Fast 12 Final as he qualified in 12th. He had not been at the track in 2 months unlike most of the competitors and his time was decent although not as fast as Races #1 or #2. While, disappointed in his qualifying position, he was in a good mood after qualifying and was able to eat 2 flat bread pizzas and smile. With the difficulty level of passing on the track with all karts being essentially equal, he had a goal of finishing in the top 10 of the feature.
He greatly exceeded his expectations (and mine) as he maneuvered through the talented field to finish 6th. He did not have the pace to catch those in front of him but his finishing position looks to have him in 4th after 4 races and the only racer in the Top 10 to miss a race. There is still more speed to be found for sure as he was
.5 seconds off of the pace of the winner, but it was a well driven race. It was great to see him drive aggressively as he is often a little passive on the track and afraid of any contact. He said afterwards that he was glad he was not black flagged - while that would have been a little extreme there certainly was some contact.
We look forward to Race #5 in a month!
